My New Year’s Resolutions…
How many of these look familiar? I know that the first couple, lose weight and get fit are ALWAYS something that I say to myself each January!
As part of my Winter Solstice/Yule
celebration, my friends and I made our own promises as a thank you for all the
blessings that we had received this past year. Beforehand we had all agreed
that although our promises would be personal to each of us, the effects or consequences
of them should benefit others and/or the environment.
What I mean is that I’m going to pay more attention to the labels and actively seek out the information about where the items I'm buying come from, is it locally produced
or has it come halfway across the world,
has it been ethically produced (no sweatshops or slave labour) are the materials used ethically sourced, I will look for fair trade logos, organically produced logos, carbon footprints...
I will be applying this to EVERYTHING that I buy from my weekly groceries to gifts and presents for my family & friends.
By the end of the year, if I can balance keeping my conscience clear and my purse happy I will count this promise a success!
It’s the little things that we can do each and
every day that can cause the greatest change.
